Rare Pictures of the Indian Medical Mission to Ottoman Turkey 1912-1913

I am extremely grateful to Madam Durriya Kazi for sharing some rare pictures of the stalwarts who formed the People’s Mission to Ottoman Turkey, which was led by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari.

Madam Durriya Kazi is the maternal granddaughter of Shuaib Qureshi who was a member of the Mission. Later, Shuaib Qureshi married Gulnar, youngest daughter of Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar. He even served as editor of Gandhi’s paper New Era and Young India.

Incidentally, her father’s maternal uncle, Abdurrehman Siddiqui, had also accompanied the delegation as the manager of the mission.

The following is a picture of Manzoor Mahmood, father of a renowned Indian ghazal singer, Talat Mahmood. He, too, was a member of the Mission.

Pictures of other members, some unknown, are added to the Picture Gallery which can be accessed from this link. Also added are other images related to the Mission, with some details of each image.
